Milk Thistle – Supports detoxification and promotes liver  health ( Liver Disease in Cats – Vetisse)

Milk thistle is a herb that modern science seems to find effective. It is a plant which has been used since ancient times as a remedy for liver damage because it successfully regenerates liver cells Milk thistle is named for the milky substance which is released when the leaves of this plant are crushed. The active component of this substance is named silymarin. Silymarin is a group of flavonoids which aid in the recovery of liver cells damaged by toxic substances, and help protect existing regenerated cells from becoming damaged. Silymarin is a strong, potent antioxidant; it is stronger than vitamins C and E, which cause it to have significant cancer fighting characteristics. In clinical studies, silymarin was found to be effective against fighting cat liver disease. In cats, it is used to improve conditions including viral feline hepatitis, the degenerative effects to the liver caused by cat cancer, inflammatory bowel disease, fatty liver, and gallbladder stone prevention.

Common side effects of the product Milk Thistle in humans were mild stomach upset and diarrhea.
